Thought I would share. My wife totally surprised me with tickets to see
B B King and Buddy Guy for a Christmas present. So, last night was the concert, so off to the Fox Theater in Detroit. We had seen B B years ago and he told everyone last night he is 84. He didn't play too long because of his health but, wow, can he still put on a show. Anita Baker was sitting about 5 rows behind where we were and he called her up to the stage to say hello, that was sweet. His daughter and her daughter were with him and came out on stage to greet everyone.
Buddy opened the night and played for 2 hours. Can this guy (no pun intended) play! He really brought down the house. At one point he came off the stage and played up and down the main aisle and made a point to sing a little to Anita. Everyone loved it. My wife and I had seats in the 4th row of the orchestra pit right on the main aisle! It was truly a great concert and a wonderful evening out with my bride of 27 years who had 4 toes operated on for the dreaded bone spur/corns. It really lifted her spirits.
One interesting side note; All those years ago when we saw B B, we had seats that time (actually a small table as it was more of a club setting) center stage right up against the stage. After he was done he handed me his guitar pic which I promptly framed. Last night when Buddy was done he was throwing pics to the crowd and my wife was so excited she was yelling for me to get one. I started waving to get Buddys' attention and he saw us and threw one like a Frisbee and it hit my wife and landed right at her feet and we got it. I couldn't believe how excited she was. We are now going the add that one to the framed B B king pic.

    Awesome!!!

During my last semester of college, I couldn't afford my books and had to sell off a good portion of my album collection. (Youngsters, these were large black disks with great music from the likes of King, Guy, Collins, etc.) I would have loved to have been at that show.

In case you are interested, Buddy made mention that Eric Clapton was a long time friend and when I did research on the new (album) disc Buddy has out it shows Clapton is on it along with Derek Trucks of the Derek Trucks Band (former drummer for Allman Bros. Band).

Don't you know Your riding with the King?

Love his music man, wish I could go to a concert, actually a concert in general for that matter. I am 24 and never been to a live concert.
