    Hi!

new to the forums but have dabbled with the hobby for a bit, with limited success. one seemingly invincible clown fish keeps swimming like a champ tho.

been collecting things to put together a 4ft setup, but after getting the tank about 2 years ago, its still very dry.
hopefully i'll find enough answers and inspiration on here to get everything together and get that lion fish I have to keep telling everyone the tank is for!

    Well.... Welcome to 3reef.

What kind of lion are you wanting?
What other equipment do you have for the setup?
You mentioned a clown... what setup do you have her in? Are you planning on putting the clown in with the lion?

We have several members who raise lionfish and love them.
    Ask away........

    Thanks

Have only seen volitan and zebra lions around here so probably a volitan.
The clown is just in a little aquaone tank (about 30 litres i think ) with an undergravel filter and would be a lot better off in the big tank. Might have to be a very small lion?.
So far I have a custom sump, that was designed by someone for a local fish shop (will probably post pics for opinions later on), an aquamedic turbofloater blue 1000 skimmer, double t5 light fitting and some reefbase sand. So probably still a little way off getting it all wet.
Also turns out my tank stand Isn't tall enough to fit the skimmer so thats probably the first thing to sort out.

Welcome to 3 reef chappy 85

Lionfish are beautiful IMO but have amazing telescopic mouths that can engulf fish larger than at 1st glance you might imagine - that clown would be on the menu IMO
