    The stink applies to everything exposed to saltwater that gets left to dry, unfortunately.

    It's so basic IMO. I have a Kent float valve in my sump, 5 gallon bucket with lid and 1/4 airline tube with bulkhead at the bottom of the bucket fed to the valve via gravity. I love it. So simple and no power use. Works like a champ.

    To clarify-You set the water level and establish SG level, use the ATO to keep SG constant via FW top off as said before in the thread. I can post pics if needed/

    Gravity fed and simple float valve is easiest and cheapest.

    I use a different float valve but exact same set up. The Kent was a little too long to fit in my sump so I used the Eshopps because it slid right on top of my last baffle. Float Valve Kit by Eshopps - AquaCave

    I am getting rid of my Kent Valve and switching to Eshopps for the exact same reason...
