I have a 55g fowlr that is currenty in the heat of a serious algea bloom. my rocks are nearly black on top with maroon slime and patches of green hair algea, my crushed coral was maroon untill i mixed it up w/ my gravel vac. about 4 months ago i had mild ich and had to use coppersafe. So, could i put astreas in to help with the algea w/ the previous use of coppersafe? I have two 3" triggers and a 3" porcupine puffer, would astreas get eaten? and, how many do you guys recomend? by the way, a while back when i first started the tank, i had just 1 trigger and a few mexican redleg hermits, the trigger used them as toys, he would set them all in the corner of the tank and when they moved he just kept putting them back into the corner, eventually, he ate them all though in about a week. Other suggestions for cleaners are wlecome.

How much flow do you have on your tank? What are your readings for phosfates? How often do you feed? There is probably something in your water that is causing this. If you can fix the problem the algea should burn its self out and you will get your tank back easier.
