I'm totally sick of my HOB fuge. It's become very limiting. I'm thinking sump/fuge but I'd need to use an overflow. I keep hearing negative things about them, like flooding.

    Anyone here running an overflow?

I ran one for about 1.5 years. I never had it overflow. The only time it got close was when I failed to clean the strainer for 2 months.

I feel with proper maintenance, they can be 100% reliable. One of the key elements IMO is properly matching the return pump to the overflow. If the flow is too slow, it will accumulate bubbles withing the tube. A properly flowing tube will remove them just with water flow.

I have a nano eschopps and it is great. Very quiet when you have the flow dialed in, never lost a siphon (since it is designed not too) and I feel very comfortable with it.
