I think I can do that Corailline, I put 2 of them in my sump and should be easy to get a nice out of water picture of the guy. I will work on that right now.

Here you go Corailline! This is one I removed that didn't make it, I had to use a knife to pry it off the Coral. Things I noticed about these things is I very rarely see them on the glass, they do like to hide and can almost always be found hanging around Corals, more so with the SPS Corals

Agreed it looks like a limpet shell, most are harmless algae grazers that make a ncie addition to are CUC but like any other snail, worm, etc; there are always a few that are a real pest and eat our corals, clams, fish

This morning and I noticed my Riccordia looked very strange and not happy, he has always been open big and always healthy looking. Look what I found digging at its base. When I removed it a lot of white very slimmy stuff floated away.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I don't understand what's going on here when I have these animals that are suppose to be harmless grazers, there are to many coincidences here. This makes 5 large ones I have removed from my tank. I am 100% certain there is/was no algae under that Riccordia to graze.

    reefnJeff,

I to hate to sound like a broken record. The offensive limpet has been identified and should be removed from your system.

One description or ID should not become a catch all or scapegoat, most limpets are fine and others eat corals, same can be said for asternia stars, flatworms.

This is the beauty of the hobby, generalizations are exception not the rule.

believe me you! When I see these things and its usually when there attacking something they are removed that moment. I do believe the one I pulled out this morning was #5 or #6. I hope I have no more.
