So my wife, being the awesome wife that she is, got me an aquaripure filter for my 75 gallon tank. I was a little hesitant to install it but after reading some threads here and doing a little more research I bit the bullet and did so today.

I did a little housekeeping first, cleaned the inside glass and performed a 10% water change. I also cleaned my protein skimmer and overheads.

After doing all that I tested my nitrates before I installed the aquaripure. Right now my nitrates are between 40 and 60ppm.

I will be sure to update my progress as it goes so others can see how well this filter works, or doesn't work as the case may be lol.

Well we had a short, ten minute, power outage and when the power came on the cobalt MJ600 pump that came with the filter would not pump water through the filter and became very noisy.

I emailed John at aquaripure and he said that sometimes the pressure can cause the pump to do that and gave me a few suggestions to fix it, such as pull the line off the pump and allow the pump to run for 15 minutes then reconnect the line and to reverse the polarity of the pump.

Disconnecting the line and letting utopian run for 15 minutes did get water pumping again but it was still very noisy. Reversing the polarity did not help the noise either so I'm waiting for John to respond to my last email, he said if those things didn't work then he would send a replacement. I was lucky enough to have a space pump that ran at the same rate as the one that came with the filter so I am still able to run it.

I added my first dose of vodka today and will post some readings at the inequality week mark this Sunday.

Ok tested the water coming out of aquaripure yesterday it seems to still be between 40 and 80ppm I honestly didn't expect anything more as it does say that it will take 3-4 weeks for it to cycleI injected another 8ml of vodka into the filter as well and will do so again on Wednesday I'll retest again in a week and see where I'm at

I tested again on Saturday January 12th and I am now getting a definitive 40ppm where as before it was more towards the red it is now definitely orange, I'd like to think that it's working but the lower nitrates could have come from the 10% water changes I've been doing each week. I will test again in a week hopefully the nitrates are significantly lower

Tested nitrates today and now have 0 nitrates

I've been writing and keeping up with this thread as my own personal journal, I'm going to still do my regular water changes to keep up with trace elements and such but I want anyone who reads this to know that the aquaripure works and works well and I would recommend it to anyone
