i have the current 24 with the hood on it... i like the tank alot but its still cycling... i do believe it would benefit to purchase a larger pump... it does not seem like it has much flow... but thats been the biggest down fall (along with the fact that i realized i have over $500 invested) overall i would reccommend the tank with the hood rather than the one you are looking at. main factor is the price mine was 320 delivered... but ya good luck let us know what you choose

Really cool looking tank. Looks like great price, esp considering the lighting system you get with it.

You should be able to keep anything in it.

I would be just a little concerned about skimming/filter system.

But what the heck...you can upgrade that later if needed.

Still a very good deal I think.

    Good Luck.

    Keep us posted.

I really like mine, but it is highly modified. It's a good setup if you are planning on keeping hardy corals. Like stated before, the stock pump is weak. Also, adding a skimmer is a must. If you have questions about it, PM me or post here..

the pump is easily changed out isnt it?

also what about the filtration system? can i just add one of the nano skimmers like oceanic offers for the biocube?

the other option i was looking at is one of the viper hqi lights and another nano the only real reason i was looking at this one was the price point with the hqi lighting system vs the only real competition on nano's with non-pc lights i found was the red sea max and those are twice as much cash and t5's

Yea, the pump can be easily switched out to a Maxi-jet 1200 or right sized Rio pumps.
I would certainly hunt for a skimmer. I would look into a Remora or Sapphire. I think the Sapphire fits in the right side compartment very nicely, but I know for a fact the Remora skims better, but it's a Hang on Back skimmer if thats ok with you ( I dont like the look).
Im not too familiar with other setups like the Oceanic or Red Sea Max, but I'm sure they work good also. The Red Sea Max doesn't come with MH lights, so it wasn't and option for me, but the Oceanic was considered.

Just getting any tank is a good thing...

    Keep us posted on progress.

Chiller is not necessary usually some fans will work fine...else just use room AC when required.

I have the 12 gal Aquapod with the MH - great tank although it does evaporate a lot of water for a small tank. I have Remora Nano on it. Great skimmer but a bit noisy. You'll have to search for a Sapphire skimmer - they stopped production of skimmers for the time being.
