    It all depends how much into the hobby you are.... If you want to stay into reefing for a few + years id go all out on a controller.

    I love it, just saving for a house down so spending 400+ is not an option right now. 160 is doable but I will be bummed I can check or control it from my phone.

    I say save your $$ and get a nicer controller for down the road. Plus I'm pretty sure new house = new tank! :D

    I have the Apex JR and love it. No need for a head unit because I control it with my computer or blackberry. I'd recommend it.
