Does anyone use this controller? There is someone selling the backlit version with temp and ph probe along with the dc8 for 160. Is this worth picking up? Also, I REALLY want to be able to monitor/control my tank from my iPhone and am not sure if I can with this unit. It has a serial port but I don't know exactly what that means, noob all day lol

I too would like to know, I am looking into a controller for my tank as well. I know I will most likely end up purchasing a ReefKeeper Elite w/Net but if I can save $$ I'm all game.

I belive if it has the ethernet port, then you can over a wireless network. I have never used one, but ive read about em. And that price is pretty decent too.. ill bump it up for ya, so those who have it can chime in

I was going to get the one w/o the head unit, and use my iphone as the headunit and make a charging next to the tank with my otter box clip to attach it to the stand.

This version has a serial port, not a Ethernet. That's where I am lost. This version the head unit is the brains. I believe your thinking of the apex jr version.

If there is an ethernet port you can pick up an Apple Airport Express for 99.99 and make it a bridge.

Sorry if I confused ya, but there may be a extra module you may need to purchase to add "Net" to the Junior.
