I was just wondering how the filter box is connected to the pump and then the wall of the the tank? Also should there be a pre filter grid that fits into the box with the pump? Because i cant fit the filter in the box with one on it.

There is no prefilter that goes in the compartment the pump is in. I had the remora and remora pro with the overflow boxes. The Box does not connect to the wall of the aquarium, the filter box is secured to the pump with the little black plastic screw.

I had trouble with it slipping and they sent me a little piece of some kind of rubber to put behind it so it would stay in place. They were very helpful when I called.

I just installed my new Remora with filterbox last night and had the same problem. I got it fastened with the screws but it sits on an angle and it's kind of difficult to set the height of the "teeth" correctly. I just emailed AquaC and hopefully they can help as well. It's rather surprisiing that a skimmer that has such good reports has such a hokey connection. Otherwise I happy with it. It's not skimming yet but contrary to many reports, it's pretty quiet.

I have the Aqua C remore but never bought the skimmer filter box. I guess you could use it to hold media but its not going to matter if you use it or not in terms of skimming ability. I think it only complicates the installation. I find a little carbon clears that oily substance on the waters surface. I only recommend ever few months to soak the entire Skimmer and Powerhead inb Vinegar over night rinse and let dry. Beside that just clean the collection cup every few days and if you have a soft brush you can clean the inside of it a little. (the middle slot where the water bubbles up) get into that with a soft brush.

Yeah, it's kind of a pain to get it horizontal. The think I really didn't like about the box was that the height was critical to keeping the surface clean. Keep the box too low and it really didn't suck of the surface. Keep it too high and it would be too sensitive to evaporation.

When using the box you really need to be on top of your water top offs otherwise the pump runs out of water and starts sucking air and gurgling. I eventually installed a sump and HOB overflow and moved my remora to the sump. It's much easier this way.

I totally agree!! I got one a few months ago and when it arrived, I was shocked at how slap together it seemed. It does seem to work well once it is all hooked up though!
