I didn't know what forum to post this but here goes...

Ok, so I bought an Apex Jr. and read through the wonderful Unofficial Apex booklet on RC to get it set-up and running. It is set-up wirelessly to my home network with the Netgear WNCE2001 gaming adapter (thanks PINK4MISS). Getting it up and running in-home network was fast and painless.

Now, my confusion is on getting it set-up to be accesible with the Aquanotes iPhone app (and to be accessed outside of my home network). Reading the guide has helped but I'm still messing things up.

My router is a Cisco E2000. I went to www.dyndns.com to set up a free account. I don't fully get what I was doing but created a username and then entered my routers IP address in the initial account creation. The host name came back as something like "______mydns-mail.com" & I wasn't sure if I had signed up for the correct thing as I didn't see the "mail" part mentioned in the guide.

So got up to the point of changing the port on my Apex to 8000 and made the IP of my Apex end in a # out of my routers range (100-149). So I was able to input the new IP of my Apex + new port to find the Apex in my home network.

This is where I start getting confused because I see that there is a DNS submenu in my routers settings. In that area you can select "dyndns.org" from the top drop-down and you have to input your username and password and the IP of the Apex? I tried doing something to that effect but everytime I tried to save it, my username and password reset and couldn't be verified, I don't get why?

Ok, so this is a novel, sorry. What am I doing wrong, should the IP address that I list in mydyndns account be the one they suggest, or the actual IP of my router, because they are different? Also am I correct messing with the DNS area of my router menu, shouldn't I be using my username and password from mydyndns account there?

Sorry I'm such a tech noob, Please HELP if you can!

I believe the mail option is for a mail server.

In detail, can you go through the exact steps that you did when you set up the router?

Why did you change your IP? Have you disabled DHCP? That is all you really had to do.

Can you send me a screenshot of the dyndns.org setup page on your router?

    I went with dyndns-home.com

Did you set up port forwarding?
