Anyone had any luck with this camera? its doesn't have much macro if any, I can get pictures but they aren't anything special, does anyone have any settings that work particularly well for them?

I think all point-and-shoots have a macro setting. It looks like tulip and will either be on the button pad or in your menu display.

the macros are usually fine for taking pictures near the front of tank but will have a hard time focusing toward the back, but you could shoot those through a magnifying glass or something similar
