My 2 Maxi-jets I had blowing behind the reef have finally retired. I wanted to replace them with a couple of K-2's. They are on sale at alot of places, because they are being phased out for the new evo series. However, the sale price on the 2 is around 30.00. 600gph. The new evo is 750gph and is about 34.00...Any thoughts or experience with the new ones???

I recently had a chance to try out the new ones, but with the prices so low on the old ones I had to go cheap. Sorry. Seems like you would have more flexibility with two Koralias of a lower output rather than one higher one.

I have a 750 and a 2 in my 46g. I prefer the 750 far better by performance, even more silent then the previous hydors, takes less energy to run them and they emit more GPH :). ... Oh and did I forget they are alot smaller! LOL.. The snail guards are also built in so you dont have directed flow, more openflow which a few people seem to have disliked about the previous models.

Thanks man...For the 3 dollars difference I think I will go with the new one. I like my old K-4's and K-1's. I'll give the new ones a shot. Thanks for the info!

Wow!! They're so much smaller than the old ones! And for the difference, I would also go with the new models.

Thanks for posting the link to the pics tatted. Great set of pics to compare. +k
