    Can this cause any problems?

I'm downsizing from a 75 gallon display to a 29, and I just realized I COULD fit my AquaC EV-120 into the little 10 gallon sump I'm building.

I was planning to sell the AquaC and get something smaller, but what the hey, I'd love to keep it if I can.

    Will this work??

I run 2 skimmers on my 150. 1 is rated to 125 gallons and the other is rated to 250. it works fine. If you notice a little bit of bland color, you may think of dosing amino acids to make up for what you take out of the water.

What you can also do is to have the skimmer on during the day and off when the lights turn off.

AHAH! This was going to be my next question - could I put it on a timer and save on the heat factor.

In that case, what about a cycle pattern?
On for 2 hours, off for 1? Or something similiar

It would depend on how long it takes the skimmer to kick back in after an off period.

My original thought was to run it at night when the lights aren't heating the tank, and the skimming isn't interrupted by feeding, hands in the tank, etc.

But I don't know. Time will tell on that one. ;)

I just recently started this method and havent noticed anything negative. My skimmer turns on at 1100am(with actinics) and turns off at 1100pm( also with the actinics). Since the fish are active during the day, I decided to run the skimmer at that time. I also dose the liquid food during the early morning, the skimmer is off at that time so the corals get to consume it more and less wasted.
