another thing that will play a role is the season certain fish are caught. When it is winter where the fish are from (which often times can be opposite of where we are at) the prices will increase

I don't think you should be giving people this information. They are going to assume that the LFS is ripping them off. They also have no right to know since they are not a store.

Why? What difference does it make if they assume the LFS is ripping them off? If the LFS price is inline with other stores in the area and online retailers, what choice do they have? Get "ripped off" or get out of the hobby.

You can find this information about any industry.

If you make a living in this industry, then you REALLY SHOULDN'T BE SHARING THISE PRICES. People don't understand this hobby at all.

They don't understand that once it leaves the supplier's dock, it's theirs. If a plane has mechanical problems and has to land somewhere and everything dies, that's $3000 down the drain.

The price list, which you seemingly have no problem with sharing, doesn't include so many things. What these lists don't show is that freight costs are huge (depending on where you live). These lists don't show box charges, heat or cold pack charges, livestock losses, the cost it takes to send an employee to the airport, the cost it takes all the employees to acclimate, livestock losses while in transit, the cost of the electricity, water, and salt to put these fish in. I could go on and on.

People think that their LFS is getting rich when they see the price difference between wholesale lists and what the charge is when they sell that animal.....well, THAT IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL.

Not without a business license and proof that you are a real business. Besides, many of the suppliers have a contract that this is a trade secret and revealing those costs means you've broken that contract.

When I look at this list I think my LFS needs to raise their prices...

Their mark up seems to be the same as the mark up at the hardware store (100%) I work at and if something breaks in transit the distributor sends us a new one. Nothing can die in acclimation, we just slap a sticker on it and put it on the shelf.
