Any thoughts on hermits?

I too have never had hermits kill snails. I've seen them fight each other occasionally for a shell.

 

Sweet I am going to try some Scarlet reef hermits.
If they kill my snails I will give them dirty looks that will learn them...

 

If your dirty looks aren't enough, you can borrow some of mine. From what I understand mine are extra bad LOL.

 

I had a talk with the hermits and apparently they have heard of your looks and want no part of that -- I think they will behave now.

 

It works for me at work, and at home...even with the cat...I knew they'd be very very afraid!

 

But they will still eat the snails if they get too hungry.

 

I thought it wasn't possible for my hermits to kill any more of my snails...I mean..they killed all my Cerith snails in a matter of weeks and now their going after Mexican real estate.......last night I noticed 2 of my blue legged hermit crabs ganging up on one of my Mexican turbo snails trying to steal his shell....I went to bed laughing saying to myself "there's no way there gonna get him out his shell..too big..never gonna happen"...this morning I woke up to a Blue legged Mexican turbo hermit....and the remains of the snail being eaten by my anenome.I will never say never again...and I'm slowly gonna start to move all my hermits to my sump...

My red legs and zebras both killed snails for their shells. I have little margarettia hermits now. My red leg has now started checking the turbo snail....thats a huge shell and I would be ticked if he killed my turbo snail. Good luck!

 

Make sure food particles get to the sand bed. I see mine picking at it all day and no killed snails. Actually my Cerith snails are multipliying like crazy. I swear I see 20 more snails when I wake up.:

 

Hmmm my LFS sells shells (say that 5 times fast) so that the crabs won't kill snails. I haven't had a problem.... yet.
