a really long time ago I bought some sympodium on a piece of shell. The sympodium didn't make it, but a bunch of hitchhikers did. any idea what this guy is? it started out about the size of a shirt button. it is now the size of a quarter, if they came in ovals;) its been sitting my fuge for awhile, so its color has changed, but it used to be a bright metallic green (around its edges it still is). Thanks for the help

looks similar, but it is attached to a piece of shell. is that possible? its still pretty small, so I can't tell about its skeleton.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Hmmm interesting. Just not sure, Manicina areolata/Rose Coral is a green lps that can hitch-hike in as a tiny piece. So can you move the shell it's attached too? It must deflate enough to see some type of skeleton at some time?

In comparison to that pump, I'd say it's just some kind of mushroom?

The tentacles aren't normal for a mushroom I thought. Cool piece though.

all of those suggestions are good ones, but I don't think they're right. Ive been checking it out every so often, and I can't see any type of skeleton. It appears to be attached directly to the shell, like a mushroom, but it puts out feeder tentacles and is more fleshy like an LPS. In the first pics it seems pretty closed up. It seems much happier in my display with increased flow and has swollen up nicely. I might just have to wait and observe it for awhile before this one gets figured out.

No one thinks it looks like anything dangerous? If not Ill just wait it out

I am no expert by any means, so this is just a guess. Looks like a Button Coral to me though, Parascolymia vitiensis.
