I've had a 10gal and a 5gal laying around the place for awhile now and my gf has been bugging me to do something with them so when day she just up and says order all of the things you need to start another nano and set that tank up. Well who was I to argue. I already had the light, a Boost LED bulb that I got when they had their sale going on. I have an Eheim 150 HOB filter, a Hydor theo heater (courtesy of Big Al's during their Black Friday sale), a Koralia 1 powerhead, around 10 lbs of Aragomax sand, 10 lbs of rock, and an Aquahub DIY ATO system. The water all came from a water change on my 29 gal system and half of the rock was existing LR from that system as well, the other rock was dry base rock. I have a small eggcrate frag rack in there as well. All I've had so far is a small diatom bloom which is to be expected. There wasn't really any cycle since almost everything came from my existing system. I have a kenya tree frag in there right now as kind of my monitor to make sure things are going well in there. I plan on using this tank as a mini frag tank now that some of my corals in my 29 are getting to fragging size and the other half as a nano that gf wanted so she could pick out zoas she liked a LFS near my hometown. Here are some pics:

Just a warning. The boost led par 30 bulb will heat up if used in a covered fixture like the one u have in tje picture. Ur better off with just a socket style

    Looks GREAT!!!

Agree with the above in that the BOOSTLEDS need to be open air, or at least have a fan blowing on them to keep them cool and not diminish bulb life.

Thanks guys, I'll look for some other kind of fixture. I haven't noticed any heat problems yet.

It's the kenya tree, just as a kind of monitor to see how the LED light is for corals and overall tank health since it's new.

How long did you cycle this tank or did you cycle it at all before putting that coral in it??? I have a frag tank and i am about to transfer 5 or 6 kenya trees in it for starters. It was born December 4th, 2010!

Everything in my tank was transfered directly from my existing tank, including the water. So there wasn't really a cycle since the live rock was already established, the water was from my other tank, and a cup of the sand from my other tank as well. I let it go for about a week before I put the kenya in. If your frag tank is brand new then the cycle could take a few weeks.
