Did you acclimate the anemone to your lighting? It might just be a bit shy with the light. As for the shrimp...unless the shrimp smells death on the anemone I highly doubt it will do much damage to it...such as eating it hah. The fish will just take a while to move into the anemone, if they ever. Mine took about two months. Most anemones are pretty good at healing themselves. Unless it has a disease that is, mine got sucked into a powerhead and got shred to pieces and its doing great to this day.

One funny thing is when I went home to visit...a coral must have fallen on it because it moved almost to the back of the tank. I just told my father to let me know if it decides to hike up the rock and onto my coral hah.

My last update for this thread.

I'm not sure if the problem with my anemone was due to light or salinity. Perhaps both. My salinity was down to 1.023 due to a malfunctioning refractometer (BLAH!!! :) ) I raised the salinity to 1.025~1.026 and tuned the MH's down to a 2hr interval that is getting increased 30 mins per week until I hit 6 hours.

Everything looks great with the anemone now, I hope this is of some help for someone in the future!

    Happy reefing!

I am wondering the same as you regarding my shrimp and my anenome. I purchased a skunk cleaner shrimp the same time as my bubble tip anenome and they didnt seem to bother each other much at all. Now it has been almost 2 weeks and last night about 30 minutes after I dimmed the lights i saw the shrimp on top of the anenome. I immediately thought it was hurting the anenome so I turned the light on and the shrimp instantly jumped off and moved away. I have realized that the anenome that I have is producing alot of slimey stuff. Maybe this is normal of all anenomies? This is my first experience with them. Any advise?

It's possible that your anemone is dying and the shrimp knows this. Does the anemone look like its "melting" ?

Sometimes it appears like it is melting then other times it is blooming real nice. Just within the last few days I have noticed that it will incase itself like a balloon. Maybe this is normal too, I just never noticed it before.

Well it's possible the slimey stuff is waste too. Perhaps you could post some pictures of the lil dude? As for the expanding and contracting, that is very much normal behavior for the most part. It can also be a sigh of stress if they stay contracted too long, or contract very often. Do a bit of reading on the subject, I'm new with anemones myself :)
