My green bubble tip anemones have turned purple one day after adding them to the tank. What could be the cause?

    Thanks:confused:

    hello gene

can you give a few more details
how long has the tank been set up, whats in there, and what lighting have you got
also what are your Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, phosphate, PH and DKH levels

you say nems as in plural, how many did you add?

most problems with nems occur in relatively new tank set ups with water quality issues and under insufficient lighting

People will require more details , if you could complete the form in the ASAP section, then all the details would help

Wow very thurough. Only things I could think of that might be causing this is stress from being moved. Acclimation to your lighting maybe it wasnt that spoiled before. Or it could be the 3 anenomes not getting along.

Wow - nice post gene, very detailed
cant find a lot wrong with what you posted, although as Larry said Cal is below what is considered normal and as such so is the mag

are the nems in better light than they where or worse?

it may be something as simple as the nem expelling its symbiotic algae ( Im not going to even try to spell the proper name) as a result of the light changes or the move

if its this, once the acclimatise then they become re populated and the colour comes back

sorry I cannot give definitive answer, the above is just my suspicion based on information given

A calcium of 390 is fine, and is definitely not the issue here.

There most likely is not an issue at all, and its just the anemones reacting to your lights.

    Kingdom: Animalia
    Phylum: Cnidaria

Sometimes its nice to ask a question that you feel people who are qualified from experience will answer

there is a lot of information on the web and much of it is good quality information

but IMHO , there is no substitute for getting the opinion of people who have a common interest - its good to talk to people even though its remote and time zones may affect the timeliness of replies

I have been on this site for a few months and I already know that there are certain people who post on this site, whose opinions would be more valuable to me than anything I could find on the web

the good news is that nobody has to answer any questions that they dont want to and that everyone who does participate can pick and choose what they contribute towards

hopefully the original poster will not be put off from asking questions
and hopefully if you ever have any questions and google wont give you answers your happy with , please post the question on here as I am 100% certain someone will be able to help you with it.

    thats how I roll
