I woke up today to find my bubbletip anemone stuck to a powerhead tore him up real good. I took him out and put him in a bucket and he now has attached himself to the bucket so I guess he's still alive but in bad shape. Any advice on what to do to try to save him, should I put him back in the main tank or just leave him in the bucket for a while? anything else I should do that might help?

i can't imagine that water conditions in the bucket will stay good for very long (30 minutes?). It's probably better to put him back in the tank - in a 125gal you should have room to put him far from any intakes. Leaving him in the bucket just adds insult to injury.

Mine got sucked onto the skimmer overflow last night - i helped him get off with a spoon (don't like touching them) and he crawled away along the back of the tank pretty fast. They're pretty tough organisms.

    Good luck!

On the contrary, anemones are very temperamental. I see a problem with putting him back in the tank if he dies. I think you have the choice of putting him back in and watching him for signs of death or see what happens in the bucket. You should try to judge the damage and make a call on if he'll survive.

I agree, they are very tempermental. I would also be hesitant to put it back in the DT. If it dies in there, it will take a lot else with it.
I would also look around VERY carefully and make sure that any pieces of it are not still in the tank.

if by "tore him up real good", you mean that there is any type of tear or hole in his base (foot) now, you best dispose of him. Anemones are very difficult creatures to care for right from the beginning. Trying to assist them in recovering from damage is next to impossible and may best be left to expert aquarists (even then, very difficult).
This is a great example of how protective covers on power head intakes are always a good idea (especially for those inhabitants that like to look death in the eye)

I think I'll leave him in the bucket for the night just to see, his foot does'nt seem to be torn and he's still attached to the bucket, but he has'nt opened up at all. What kind of corvers do you use for your PH to avoid this?

It looks like you've got koralia pumps for your PH. These don't really have a way to be covered, because of their vortex design. More traditional PH's can have a foam or plastic slotted cover placed on the intake to diffuse the suction.

    How's the anenome doing?

The PH it got sucked into was a MJ 1200 with a plastic cover on the intake with little slits only 1/8 in width. As far as the anemone let's just say he went to swim with the fishes, if you know what I mean. Oh well lesson learned.
