I got a pretty small rose anemone the other day. Its about the size of a quarter. I put it in a well lit area and i noticed yesterday that it has moved to a dark spot on the back side of my live rock. Why is that?

I also have two tiny false percula clowns that pay no mind to it at all. Is the anemone to small or did i just get the wrong type of anemone? Thanks for all your help

What are your current water param's, what type of lighting do you have, and how old is the tank?

well i dont know why it moved, but i think that is waaaay too small for a clown to host. might have to wait for him to get bigger :)

Water param are all good i go get them tested once a week at the LFS. PH was alittle off but i fixed that already and i try to feed it brine shrimp when i feed my fish but it doesnt ever grab any of it. All the fish and coral are doing just fine and the tank is prob about a month and a half old

Your tank is not nearly well-established enough to house an anemone. What exactly is "good"? You need to get your own test kit.
If your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate are not 0 across the board the anemone should not be considered. Also, they need very strong lighting (T5 or MH, or both), and well established tanks. They should not even be considered until the tank is 8-12 months old.
You need to keep in mind that anemone's are amongst the hardest creatures to keep.
I would take it back to the LFS ASAP. If it dies in your 8 gallon, the result would be absolutley devastating.

good meaning perfect. nothing is wrong with the water. i do have my own test equipment i just get the LFS to do it and if i didnt have time to go to the LFS i would do it myself. i would get the exact readings but im at work so i cant. i never imaged that i would have to wait that long just to put it in. everything is going so well too. my live rock is turning purple and pink. the water is always on target and if not quickly fixed. ugh this sucks maybe they can give me a deal on something if i take it back. i thought that once you buy something there was no return bc its saltwater animals

New tanks will go through spikes in the params that can only last even a few hours or less. This is enough to kill/harm some creatures. Only time really makes anything stable.
Even if they dont give credit, they will probably still take it back. Even no credit is better than every single thing in your tank dieing.

Unfortunately like it has been said, anemones are one of the hardest things to keep...and a rose one is expensive! As a general rule you do not want to add any type of anemone for about 1 year as these die very easy! I have never had a problem selling things back to my fish store..usually they will give me credit!

With a tank being only a month and a half old, I would not add anything else for a while...trust me, I have been there and have made many mistakes! What happens is even though your water seems to be alright right now it just is not stable right now....it can fluctuate very easily and disease such as ich can run rampent in the tank and wipe out your entire system. Plus your system does not have the capability yet to respond to things like too much food, added fish poo, etc. It might just be building up in your system

I would wait several more weeks before adding anything else in there. Let the biological load catch up a little and then add only 1 thing at a time.

Not sure what size tank you have or what type of lighting you have...but make sure you take that into consideration and do not try to overstock to fast! Again we have all (or most of us...I have) been there and know how hard it is...but we also know how hard it is to all the sudden see an entire tank die!

While it is cool to see clowns host an anomone it is not necessary to have one in the tank...you can get things like anthelia, star polyps and many different things for them to host. They also do just fine without anything to host. I tried to rescue an anomene from my parents and could not raise it in my tank cause it kept moving on me and the tank was only 7 months old...so I will not get one again until it is a couple years old..just not worth it

    Good luck
