I had a maroon that would host brown zoas but that took years(damsel did also).

Interesting ideas ....my clowns have found a temporary host ....a small nook between substrate and rock ....kind of an overhang. Its funny to watch the smaller little dude massage himself in the sand. The larger just cares about food. Ill probably go the toadstool route. Am I correct in assuming that toadstools get very large? My elephant ear mushroom is nearly ourgrowing my 36g tank ...close to 12" when fully opened

LMAO ...theres a visual I hope to never see ....a toadstool covering my face. I could trade my elephant ear in to make room for one. The next home I buy will be prioritized by its ability to accomodate a very large tank!

my clowns alternate between a medium sized Frogspawn and a clump of pulsing Xenias. They frequently annoy the frogspawn, even tear off tentacles from time to time, and it's still doing well...but I suspect it could be growing faster. Mostly they rest in between branches tho, so usually they can get along.

I have seen my male nestled into a big patch of purple mushroom polyps occasionally, and they've both tried to host my duncan, but it's still far too small.

Ultimately tho, they don't need a coral or anemone to host and will do fine without one.

I wouldn't recommend any LPS coral, especially an elegance, for the reasons listed earlier. They just don't do well with the constant nudging that clownfish give their hosts. I had an elegance and a gigas clam get killed by a pair of clowns who loved them to death.

Scratch that one off the list of things clowns haven't hosted.
