Well Said RS and congrats! I to quit after 26 years years of pounding "nails", this is my 10th year as of 2/18 and I will never smoke again either. I always said I would quit when I was ready and I firmly believe that being ready is the key. If your not ready to quit then it is just not going to happen no matter what you try.

Well happy happy joy joy to both of you, I'm going to the garage to smoke!!;D I quit last year for several months, the key is to want to quit more than you want to smoke IMO. Worked great for me. My prob. was I thought I was over it so I bummed one every now and then from friends... brought me right back to where I started!!! So now I know not to EVER smoke a single one once you have quit... once I get the motivation up I will quit again! Look what you started Brandon... a "quit smoking support group!"

LoL yea this thread definitely went two ways here. I don't mind, I figured someone would chime in with a "don't smoke" remark. Although in this case, it wasn't an attack and that's cool, too.

Interesting discussion here. A lot of good points and it does kind of worry me. Although like I said, I smoked in my apartment before with the lights setup over my 46 gallon like they are now over my 72, and I don't recall anything like what omard said happening to my fish as a result (Nicotine: Fish circling beaker at surface, tilted upwards, quivering). Maybe some more research is in order for me tomorrow.

    God bless google!

heh i just quit 2 months ago after smoking for 20years and i can safely say i'll never pick up a smoke again, having kids can make you want to live a long and healthy life :)

"I got very angry at cigarettes over time. My attitude became a mixture of "I'll be damned if someone is going to get rich over me killing myself," combined with, "The only reason I smoke is to satisfy an urge that I'd never have had, had I never picked one up in the first place!" Sorry, but I get passionate about cigarettes. They suck, and there is simply not a single #%*^)# reason to smoke." well said ReefSparky!

I'll have to add that lately i eliminated a lot of stress from my life and that was the edge i needed to stop for a couple weeks.

But back to the topic ... I remember when i used to smoke on the way to work every few months i would clean my windshield(inside) because there would be these tiny dots of nicotine all over it.

Or have you ever blown smoke through a towel or napkin it's really amazing how much tar and crap is in one drag.
The smoke has to settle somewhere and if there is smoke under your lights I'm sure the water is absorbing it. omard makes a good point about washing hands as well.

I don't know how worried you should be.:-/ I'm just glad i don't have to do it anymore, and when you quit(and one day you will)you'll say wtf was i thinking lol ;D

Hell if you are worried smoke outside, my wife always kicked my arse outside to smoke. Now that i quit she loves it and i got major brownie points !!!

I'm an ex-smoker as well but before I quit, I smoked in the same room as my fishtank(s) for many many years with no detrimental effects. I've read alot of threads about this subject on other forums and I have never heard of anything bad happening as a result.

How can you miss it! food tastes better, I can laugh without coughing, I can walk, (I was going to say run but that would be a lie!) without having to stop every few yards. And most importantly I have money to spend on other things (mostly salt water stuff).

It quickly becomes drawn into your water column as would carbon monoxide, dust, paint and cleaning fumes and other contaminants, ultimately effecting your livestock!

Have you had personal experience with that CR? Never took you for a smoker? :)
