For aiptasia, we had great luck with Peppermint shrimp, until our pistol shrimp decided to revoke their rights to live. Get multiple pep shrimp, so that way if you have one that won't touch aiptasia, you're still fine.

For sand sifting, nasarius snails work well, as well as a sand sifting star. We have a pistol shrimp and goby pair that keep our sand quite clean. Gotta keep the corals away from the bottom of the tank though...

For algae cleanup, we tried cerith snails and stuff like that. Didn't notice a huge difference. Then we bought about 9 or more Banded Trochus Snails. They are AMAZING. they're small, and they cleared our whole tank of algae within a week, and have kept it that way. They're even breeding. I guess we had about a 1:5 ratio of snails to gallons, if that helps. Saltwater Invertebrates for Marine Aquariums: Banded Trochus Snail

Also for algae, we've had a good janitor in the form of a Fuzzy Chiton from reefcleaners. He's no longer fuzzy...just a chiton. But he does a great job on the rocks. They'll stay locked in one spot until all algae is gone, then move onto the next one. He'll never get off of the rocks onto the glass though...they can't move hardly at all on sand. But he's cool.

Then we have an absolute army of blue legged hermits. They may pick up detritus and gunk off the rocks, but they're cute and fun to watch too :D

And then we have a Brittle Star and Harlequin Serpent star that are WAAAAY cool and I guess keep the crap out of the caves. They're mainly for the cool factor, but they clean as well.

And we have a scarlet "skunk" cleaner shrimp for fish and rock cleaning. And our blenny eats a bunch of gunk...he's weird, though. ::)
