Uhg, what a night. Around 10pm, I'm watching tv, in the basement and realize I haven't seen my McCosker's flasher wrasse. Look around no sign anywhere. Look in the overflow, there he is just hanging out. I'm panicked, because my gold head sleeper goby died in this same overflow. This is a homemade overflow, in a 29g. The tank is drilled in the back, and it's just a shallow acrylic box.

I try to scoop him out, he swims into the drain tube. And accidentally knock the power cord to my RKL and disconnect it. (This is a lower display, built into the wall of my sump room, so it is just a foot or so away from the sump.) MH goes off, making the room dim, and there is a 10 minute safety delay before it will come back on. Find a light, look in the sump, not there, also, not in the overflow. I wait for him to come out in the sump. Nothing. Look again, he's back in the overflow box. Look around find a net, clean it, try again, but he sneaks into the pipe again. I wait for him to come out for like 10 minutes, nothing... Finally take the pipe apart, spill water everywhere, he's not in it. Look, now he's in the sump hiding under my protein skimmer. Take out all the equipment (royal PITA  ) and finally get him.

I clean up the water and everything, put everything back together, then go upstairs. Something seems odd, my gf says she put water in the fluval edge and it already evaporated. I check and it takes me a while, but finally I figure out, that my air pump is dripping water (I have an air pump, with air hose line, going to an air stone in the tank, in case of emergencies, I had a minor bacterial bloom a while back and decided to leave it there in case it happened again). The air pump has been set up like that for over a month, with no problem, but for whatever reason it decided to start a siphon tonight. So, fix that.

Then I go over and look at the main display. Something seems off, but I'm not sure what. Finally, I realize the MH on the main display is on. I go back downstairs and notice that the RKL time reset to 7:30 (it was around 11:30). Usually, unplugging it dosn't change the time, so, maybe I bumped it when I was working on the sump, idk. So, fix that.

Now I realize I'm not going to sleep, worrying about the wrasse getting back into the overflow. So, I find a piece of acrylic and make a gaurd for the overflow.

So, now I should be sleeping, but instead I'm typing this, watching my wrasse swimming around, like nothing ever happened, laughing at me. All the while, I can't help but wonder if some higher power, is punishing me for that fairly good sized DD order I placed a several hours ago. Now I just hope my system survives long enough to add them  Now I need a beer, but I don't have any and the stores closed over two hours ago :tounge2:

    Good night all!

I once learned the hard way not to do anything on the tank just before bed, especially if I'm tired. Don't ask what the lesson was... :p Ugh.

Also, did you steal the other Kiwi Abyss Acro I had my eye on? I's got the itch right now too... :)

Congrats with the order, as well as the mostly successful night.

And now I have succumbed to the itch. My tank is seriously full.

    I blame you for inspiration.

haha, thanks, I needed a laugh. Now I am actually going to bed. After my last post, I realized that the time on my RKL, had not been reset, it was frozen  For whatever reason, the time and date stopped incrementing.... So, since my last post, I've been running around, trying to find old fashioned timers, extension cords and everything else.... Mostly everything is hooked up, although, I didn't have enough outlets for all of the supplemental lights. Oh well. Man I'm tired, tomorrow is going to suck :(

Thanks all! It doesn't end I guess though. Last night, I disconnected my Ehiem Jager heater from the controller. I have it set a few degrees high and have the controller turn it off and on, but I'm not trusting the controller at the moment. I couldn't see the adjustment knob, the way it was positioned in the sump, so, I disconnected it, to let it cool off, and planed to adjust it this morning. In the meantime, I just used a spare heater, although, the spare is a bit undersized and can't quite keep up. So, I tried to adjust the Ehiem this morning, but it didn't seem to be turning off at the correct set-temp. So, I recalibrate it, adjusted the red dial, to the actual temp (based on 3 thermometers) and set the set temp to that to see if it was working. It wasn't. In fact, it wouldn't turn off unless I set the set-temp, to 7 degrees less than the actual temp. So, now I need to figure out what's up with that

Oh man, this seriously sucks, it seems that technology just loves to let us know that we are not a smart as we think. Hopefully all has settled again and you will not experience it again.

For, I'm a bit believer in Murphy's law, but I'm not sure how much more redundant I can get! Everything seems so unrelated, I think there must definitely must be a curse on one of the corals I ordered
