Oh, well that sounds like a lot of flow. I think it works out to about 2590gph, that divided by 29 is about 89. That doesn't seem a little high? 89x the amount of flow? I thought usually its 25x the gallon of the tank. Maybe I'm wrong though, I've never had an sps tank...

That sounds a little high to me, i think they were thinking that you were going to be alternating between pumps like on a wave maker, but i could be totally wrong. thats just what i got out of the conversation.

Well in was just gonna by timers the I can plug the power heads into and adjust the alternating that way. I don't really have the money to spend on a wave maker.

I hear you on that one. Yea throwing them on a timer just to alternate the flow sounds good to me. whats the timeline that your looking at, every 12 hrs or something like that?

You can get the power strip wavemakers fairly cheap. 60x gph is not unheard of in SPS tanks. I am running close to 50 myself.

If more than one pump will be on at a time, then definetly go with lowwer output pumps.

Be careful with the koralia pumps. If they're not specifically for a wavemaker I've heard they break from being turned on and off.

Well I was thinking if I decide to go with 2 750s, 2 450s and a 240 then id alternate the 750s every 6hrs and the 450s every 3 (for random currents) and leave the 240 on 24hrs, well until feeding time. Is that to much on and off?

Well I heard the new koralia pumps are designed better than the old ones and are ok to be placed on a wavemaker but i could be wrong. i run 2 k3 and 1 k1 and they run constantly and only turned off for feedings. Then new koralias are run on a shaftless propeller so they wont make the chatter that the k's do. i dont have expierence with them so cant speek from expierence.

You have a 29 Gal tank right? I am just about finished building my 30 gal "frag" tank...which will house SPS/LPS/Softies. I am putting in 2 Evo 750's with a 200GPH return. Roughly 57X. 2 750s should be fine for you, with a 240 Nano alternating, I suggest.

BTW, BigAl's has em for $27 a piece + coupon codes for 3reefers, and free S&H over $75. Can't go wrong there.
