Ok so I have a 29 gallon tank. I want to have alternating currents, meaning 2 or 3 ph. With a 29 gallon tank I think its just about 725gph worth of movement. So should I get 2 or 3 power heads rated at 725gph and alternate power between them, or should I get 2 or 3 power heads that equal 725 and alternate power between them? Basically if I had 3 240gph and alternated bewteen them it would only be 240gph flow at any givin time. Maybe I just answered my own question but I'm still not sure.

240 alternating between 3 powerheads is fine, that's a decent amount of flow.

You might want to get more movement anyways. 240GPH is only 10x movement. It is good and random, but still not much. If you plan on going SPS eventually anyways, go ahead and get the pumps for that now. Why buy twice?

    True, so 3 425s or 2 750s?

    Softies/LPS

I would go with 3 or 4 of the nano korallias at 425 for flow around the rocks and put a 240 in the rock structure to make sure water moves through the rockwork.

    Softies/LPS/SPS

I would go with 2 Korallia Evos at 750gph. Placed a few inches from the top right and left corners of the back of the tank. then angle them downward and around the the rockwork. Next, I would put 2 Korallia nanos at 425gph on the bottom left and right on the back glass aimed at the front and angled up. I would then put a Korallia nano 240 at 240gph in the rockwork to ensure water movement through the rock work.

    Alternating Flow

You could have the 750s on a timer to run at 6hour intervals like a high and low tide affect and leave all the other powerheads on. Another option would be to just have them all on 24/7. I run all of mine 24/7 and don't really see any disadvantages to it.

All these are alternating or run at the same time?
