alternate heating - will it work?

    wow, those are all really good points.

    As much as I like experimenting and coming up with my own ways of doing things, it's not worth ruining my tank for something so cheap as heaters.

    I can be content thinking I am avoiding a self-made disaster! lol

    I agree... The other problems are: If it's at the bottom, you'll be heating glass & then the sand bed. In other words you are going to COOK your live sand & everything in it. End result crashing you tank.

    I dont even use a heater on my reef tank.. house temp is always 73-79 my tank always 76-80...
