For everyone that has a Biocube, in particular a 29 gal one, I was wondering what type of skimmer you guys have. I was looking for one of the smaller ones that fits in the back chamber. Also, I was wondering if when you put the skimmer in if there is still room for the filter pad or if you just take that out all together.

when i had a bc 29 i used the oceanic skimmer. worked ok, but you always have to mess with the air. i think tunzes make a skimmer that will fit back there but they are pricey. never used the filter cart. they are useless.

i dont have a skimmer yet, but im looking at oceanic skimmer. I hear it dosnt work good as other brands, but then again its much much more cheaper.

    $32 in petco.com
while others can be up to $100+

I have tried many different skimmers for my biocube. Oceanic worked ok..not all that impressed.

I thought the fission was a complete waste of money

What I am using now is the aqualife skimmer that just came out a little bit ago. Works great. Doesnt fit in the back but is small enough that it doesnt take much room

can a biocube be drilled? I think they are great tanks, but I would want to drill it and add a sump..

I use the SR3, it works pretty well and fits in 2nd chamber (you can also close the lid to reduce noise). Produces a lot of bubbles that can escape into the tank so you will need to work out sponge placement between 2nd and 3rd chamber and it can be a little tempermental when first setup. I would also remove the biobale before introducing to tank.

    Hope this helps.

I went with the Aquatic life skimmer that Matt featured on the home page here awhile ago.
