    Tank is how old?
    Are you over feeding?
High nutrient levels combined with elevated phosphate(phosphorus) levels will increase and spur algae growth!
Many of us also have a larger than ideally suited bioload in our tank. This combined with inadequate skimming and other filtration media and water changes not being maintained weekly or bi-weekly will also lead to algae growth!

Like CR said, theres several causes. Most likely however, its not enough water changes if your nitrates and phosphates are showing 0, than your algae is using these to fuel its growth. If you increase your water changes to a weekly routine, you can help slow down the growth, while you manually remove the algae. Also, if its hair algae, you can try a seahare or a sea urchin, as they have been known to eat the stuff.
