I have 10 mangroves in my refuge and they seem to work along with the chaeto fine. I spray them with fresh water once a week to keep the salt off the leaves and upper stem and they are growing like crazy.

I would like to set up a system where the mangroves can be on display as well, like a house plant. I think they are kind of cool looking. What are the specs on the substrate and light in your fuge?

I literally have them suspended in the refuge with the leaves apx. 4" out of the water. I do not even supplement light, just whatever ambient lighting i have in the room and whatever reflects off the water surface. I never had any luck with these until I started spraying with the water bottle. Since then they have all really taken off in a pretty short period of time and the roots are going rapidly absorbing nutrients in the water. Some people say they need lots of flow but not in my case :)

Well, I have heard all sorts mixed info on mangrove fuges. It isn't often that someone has actual personal experience to speak from. Thanks for the info.
