Yeah, small price for living in the most beautiful place on earth(IMO).;D

Heading into Los Anchorage in a couple hours to check out a reef tank, and one of the local reef suppliers down there. I'll post up what I find for prices on various items, see how it compares to others in the lower 48.

I did see this ad on craigslist this morning, so there's hope.:)

All the coral frags I have for sale are $10. I currently have the following types:

    - Pulsing Xenia
    - Zoanthid Polyps (Green and Orange)
    - Colt Coral (Sometimes called Kenya Tree Coral)

Each coral is attached to a 1" piece of cultured live rock and comes from a healthy disease free reef aquarium.

It looks really pretty there! I would love to visit, but only in the summer time. Living in So Cal makes me a bit of a whimp to the cold.lol It will be interesting to see the price diffrence on coral out there.

Just wanted to update my own thread.;D

Alaska Coral Fanatics seems to be a great place, but, it's the only place in town. Owner showed me around, even the back rooms, where he has the filtration/dosing setups, etc. 160 gallon Instant Ocean Reef Crystals is $80, along with plenty of frags($10), and corals, fish, and quarantine setups for the fish. Main display tank is 500 gallons, where everything is for sale including a Tridacna clam, that has to be 12" in length.

Didn't buy any of the reef setups I looked at, so I'm still looking. After seeing the store, I think the addiction has taken hold once again.;D Just a matter of time. Still waiting on any Alaskans, or sponsors who'll ship here.;)

    Main display tank:

    Nice display!

I am actually surprised you found a store, they look like they are doing something right. Do they have any AIO set-ups ?

You know, I didn't even notice if they had any AIO setups. I was in a hurry at the time, and just wanted to check out the basic store. I'll have to check when I head down there next time. 2 hours round trip to the only store around(that's worth anything), so I need to plan accordingly.;D

Still waiting on anyone to give me shipping options/prices to Alaska. Anyone? No other Alaskans on this board eh?8)

How is your build going? When we lived up in Alaska (less than a year ago), there was a nice local store called the REEF at Sears mall in Anchorage. But last time I heard, they went out of business. I didnt know about the Fanatics place until recent, i wish we had know them. Off Tudor, rite? We lived really close from there, I think.

We used to live in Eagle River/Anchorage for 2 years, but we moved back to Montana. When we decided to come back here, we broke down the tank (29 gal), we gave away everything we had. It was sad but we got it established back right away from the beginning after the move, the tank looks like this now :)

We miss AK mountains! MT is called Big Sky country, but AK is big a$$ AK! I still have a lot of pictures from Anchorage, Eagle River, Denali, Fairbanks, Kenai, Russian River, Seward, etc. Still have a lot of friends and they are missed very much.

Anyways, keep the tank build updated, ok?

I just shipped a a bunch of dry goods to Alaska from Illinois, It was about the same price as if it were to be shipped to LA but it will take a week longer via usps ground.
