Hey guys I posted this on a local forum but its kinda slow...so maybe you guys can help me with some stuff.

So I was lucky enough, with the help of a good friend and craigslist, to get a 72 Bow front, stand and acrylic sump for a mere $40. I have a 56 that i will be moving stuff over from, and eventually getting some new stuff!! Im gonna need you guys' help because the new tank is drilled and will be using the sump, but i am new to all of that. There is no plumbing right now, so i will need to figure that out. I would aslo like to set up a refugium, but i dont think the sump is built for that yet... I will include as many photos as needed and all help will be greatly appreciated!!

My first steps are going to be to clean everything up, repaint the stand and make a top for it, and work on the sump and plumbing. Would it be possible to add a piece of acrylic in the sump and make part of it a refugium? If so..what measurements would i want?

Dude you got lots of room in that sump for a fuge compartment. Get you a piece of the thicker plexi from HD or lowes & silicon another chamber in there. As far as getting the plumbing done up, check the tank picture section, that is where I got 80% of my plumbing figured out, with another 10% coming from marinedepot.com (just cause they got pictures of the fittings), and the remainder from hanging out in lowes putting it together in my mind. Its easier that you think once you get into it. Nice tank & awesome price too.

Hey, Akool, I noticed you stated the tank was drilled. Was this done by somone or is this manufacturer installed return? The reason I ask is because I have a 72 bow and I want to do a overflow but I thought the bottom of these tanks where timpered glass. I would like to see the progress as you go. Are you doing a return in the middle, with a fuge and skimmer section?

I believe it was manufacturer installed but im not 100% sure because i bought it from someone off craigslist. I decided to make the return in the middle with water coming from the tank going to both sides, the skimmer and the fuge. I have been working way to much so i havent got to do much besides clean it but hopefully next week i will be able to get some stuff done!

Damn all that for 40 bux. lucked out there Akool. Any plans on the tank? reef? Fish only? as far as your refug. idea make it as big as you possibly can. I would get the return pump your going to be using, set it in there and make it about a 1/2" to 1" of clearance on the sides, and make the rest your fuge.

Is that the stand you're gonna use in the picture. Looks like you may need a new stand, but they are'nt that expensive...... That looks like a standard tanks stand, you dont want that tank hanging off of the stand in anyway.....
