Would you guys recommend using a airstone if you have a glass top? Would that help with gas exchange?

I would work, but I wouldn't recommend it because of salt creep. Gas exchange happens at the surface, and it's much easier and effective to point a powerhead up towards it.

A skimmer would help as far as bubbles go I would think.

You can use an open-ended airline if you don't have a PH. Just get a length of rigid airline tubing and put it where you need it in the tank. You'll get the turbulence with far less creep, if any.

FWIW, I'm not crazy about glass lids unless you have a sump for gas exchange (you didn't say)...they trap CO2 and heat right at the surface of the water.
