    nubis are a risk, they look cool but will die if food runs out, i have a 48g with a 10g refusump have some apitasia there and those that spread to my dt (havent noticed any) are quickly eaten by my peppermint. so.....get a peppermint shrimp. but do some research before buying, especially learn to recognize the difference.

    The black sand has been in Amy tank just about 18 months. When I move it a whitish "smoke" will come out of it

    you shouldnt have much of an issue if its that shallow and only been running for about 18 months
