Aiming Power Heads

I need a bit of help aiming my powerheads. The problem i run into is during feeding I can't get enough food to the bottom. I know that flow is great and I want my tank to turn over all the faster. Right now I have two koralia v3's. One at the top on the left side pointing down and back behind my reef. The other is on the right, lower by 7 inches, just under the overflow skimmer. a nice circular motion is being achieved but it doesn't reach the other side of the tank anyways. so I have two dead corners. What can I try?

 

i'd just turn them off for feeding time, unless i'm misunderstanding your ?

 

well, turning them off is an option, and yea that's part of it. But from what i'm seeing, most soft corals like a wave-type motion. I'm not thinking about a wave generator right now, but i'd like to get some spiral flow. Thanks for the comments. I appreciate them

How big is your tank?

 

I'd like to look at the internal workings of that skwd. The cahnces are good that I could just make it. By the way it's a 75g much like yours antony. Not as pretty yet but it's coming along. I gotta ask, isn't having two stealth heater overkill? I have the large that's rated for 75's. Combined with my t5's it gets to be a good 82-84 during the day time. And we keep our a/c at 68 in the condo for the dog. Aside from in depth specifics, we have the same set-up. I'd like to see a video.

 

I have the 200 and the 100, to have two smaller ones, I think is better. That way the heat is more spread out. I have two 6 inch fans on top of my t5s and my tank never gets above 78. I too keep it pretty cool. How can I post a video? U tube? I think 3 kolaria 3 maybe a little too much. I have two 1s and two nanos. I seem too have a ton of flow. Any pics??

see if that link works. I have two kolaria v3's and it's a bit much for my sand bed. Trying to aim them makes my tank feel small. If I had been planning this instead of mostly winging it then I would've done it the way that you did. I'm a minimalist as far as equipment goes. I want my eye to catch the fish and corals, not the wires. About the video's, if you take a video and use quicktime to compress it for the web (12fps) then upload it to youtube, wait for it to clear processing and have it all be successful then you can stream it to a thread. After all that stuff go up to the address bar of your browser while you're on the page with the video. copy the last 10 or so characters. then start a thread, hit the youtube button in the prefs bar under the title bars. In between
