    Hello,

I took down my tank 2 weeks ago as i was upgrading. I put all my live rock in a container with the water from my tank + heat and 2 power heads. I had a bubble tip anemone attached inside one of my large rocks, and i totally forgot about it when adding the live rock to my bucket.

The anemone had been in the bucket for about 1 week with no light and then i remember the dam thing was in there. Searched around to find it in two mushy parts at the bottom.

I feel bad for this happening but due to my new tank leaking i didnt remember.

    Question is:

The water in my bucket will be okay or would i have to discard the water when i setup the new tank?

    Thanks

is the anemone dead? if your new tank is going to go for a cycle i guess it would not matter, might take longer perhaps. I would discard the water just to be safe

Yes it was dead. Just a white sticky mush.

I'm planning of not cycling my new tank.

Hate to tell you this but you are gonna have a cycle. Its going to have a sub mini cycle, nonetheless, a cycle because of the death of the anemone. If you keep changing the water out of the rock and then set up the new tank then it will cut your cycle down much shorter. I don't know if you still have any other livestock left over but the stress of them living in the bucket will add to the cycle too.

All my fish , inverts , corals are in my sump at the moment. Not in the same bucket as the live rock.

I know there will be a small cycle.

What I'm planning of doing is replacing all the water, get the parameters to the same as the bucket water ( where my live rock is ) and then wait it out for any spikes.

I just wanted to know if the dead anemone would release any nasty stuff into the water, i did a ammonia test and it came out 0

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You do not have to worry about the anemone releasing any toxins that will leach out of the rock in the future.
