I'm on the fence on eggcrate, I did use it initially in my 55g reef but did not use it in my new shallow 70g cube. The stacks in my cube are small though so no worries of large rock slides. I wonder though if debris will get stuck in the eggcrate, still on the "not sure" if it's benefit outweighs it's possible adverse effects.

If you get enough really good Live Rock your cycle may finish in days. Which was the case with my 55g, it was almost non-existent and the tank was up and running, did great.

I had eggcrate in my 55 and my 90g. I never saw anything negative from using it. My 90g was about as perfect water quality as u can get. I use it just in case.

I hear ya, I had no issues with my 55g either when I used it, just wondered about my sand sifters like my nassarius, would they get stuck in those little cubes and be doomed forever :)
