My plan is to have one male and 3 female anthias in my new 110g. Most likely will go with lyretails.

It's said that it's important to add them all at once. How do I make sure that such sudden increase in bioload does not overwhelm my tank?

    Excessive feeding in advance?

    Thanks.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Disclaimer: I have never kept Anthias in a trio.

When I have wanted any grouping of fish my attempt was to get them young and all add at the same time. Usually I ordered more than I wanted from a distributor, one always seems to go to the fish tank in the sky.

In a 110 tank the addition of 3 fish should be fine after the tank has had adequate time to cycle.

The problem with me and Anthias is food. Mine have always been picky eaters right off the get go. Having multiple food types like mysid, cyclopeez, frozen Rod's food helps. They eat so dang often and you worry when they do not eat, it's easy to add too much food to a newer tank.

I would say go with atleast 6, I put 4 in my 75, 1 male and 3 females, they were not paired together before i got them, the most agressive female killed the male and 2 other females. I now have the 1 female and she is great by herself.

I realize now i made the mistake of to small a tank for these fish. They need lost of space and if you do get them, and they are not already paired, get all females, and the most aggressive will turn male. And the more you have the less stress each one will suffer from the aggression because it will be spread out between the others.

Great fish! and super pretty, wish i had a bigger tank i would love a school of them.

    Thanks for advice guys.

I wonder if 6 in a 110g with live rock and corals might be too much. That probably would not leave much room for any other fish?

You should be fine to add more fish, as long as you have good filtration.
    In my 75 i have
    2x clowns
    1x foxface
    1x lyretail anthias
    1x yellow tang
    1x red scooter blenny
    1x engineer gobie
    1x spotted dragonet
    1x yasha gobie
    1x midas blenny
    1x pepermint shrimp
    1x cleaner shrimp
and then corals, 8" clam, and barley anything as far as a clean up crew.

So i would say stock that thing up! haha

i also have a ADHI 45 sump with a swc 160 skimmer. Sooo dont cheap on your filtration and you will be fine.

    0 nitrates
    0 nitrites
    0 amonia
    0 phos

I do 5gal weekly wc, 100gal total system volume i am guessing. And have chaeto in sump and run carbon.

Just for an example of a bio load, you should be good with the 6 and a few other fish depending on the bio load they will put off.

OR just get a trio that is already grouped up, like from Divers den, then you should be ok.

I like having a tank with lots of fish. My next stocking for my 210 are like a few anthias of various types.
