So the five snails I have are settling in to my 29g biocube very well (thanks to those who reassured me to give them a couple days) and my chemistry's been mostly good for over a week. The only non-optimal statistic is my pH- it's about 8.0, maybe a shade lower. I'm getting a powerhead tomorrow to increase water movement. My 21 pounds of live rock are putting out algae at a strong rate. While I'm at the LFS, can I add to my CUC? I know snails are hardy and tolerant compared to most fish, but what else could help cut down on green hair algae without risking being a casualty of an immature tank?

blue harmit crab eats them, but its best if you do it manually, sometimes cuc alone cant control the green hair algae

less light/shorter light cycles. If you don't have coral yet, you don't need to feed the algae light.

I would go ahead and add a full clean up crew. If you're right at the end of your cycle then I would worry less on the GHA itself and more on the nutrients feeding the GHA. A good CuC will break down those nutrients, your bacteria will catch up, a good skimmer, etc.

IMO, go add another 20 snails. if you can of different species. the bottom dwellers, like nassarius. or glass and rock variety , cerith and astreas. persoanlly id stay away from the turbos, they can be unsettling if you decide to add corals. theyre like bulldozers. lol

Not planning on corals. We're looking at a couple clowns, some cleaner shrimp, and maybe 1-2 more fish if the bioload's not too much at that point
