Ok we'll i'm almost completely fisnished my 10 gallon I recently aqurried from a trade...
I'm going to be using it as a refugium.
my question is how much sand should be placed into my sump...and what type of sand...
I'll be using this as a type of denirtifcation support in the long run...

You'll want a DSB (Deep sand bed) for denitrification as those bacteria are anaerobic. I would say between 4-6".

I would go 4 inch min, and I would use Argonite sand for majority, but add some of the sand from the DT to seed it

a tip I read from the internet
if you can get hold of a small cup of sand from various other local sources
that helps to increase the diversity of life forms in your sand bed which can also help to improve its effectiveness.

Ok we'll I got some good news....
I called my buddy and he seems to have sugarfine/granual argonite dying live sand...
he recently had shut down and he just moved his former reef into the cold garage...
he offered me though the sand and he told me it probably is now dead because of the cold temprature here in canada...
besides that,I;m wondering what steps i should do before installing this sand into my fuge???
I'm thinking of cleaning it troughly for a good half hour!
    anyone else have any suggestions...
Is it safe is the main question...
