My hippo is actually pretty shy compared to the purple but they get a long. I think the blue jaw may actually work out...

wow- do any of you keep these tangs yourself or is it just my tank that is so very very different from yours?

I have two blue hippos, one med, one large, a med. purple tang and a med. yellow tang, a large red soldier fish, a pair of mated oc. perc. cf, a pair of mated zebras, a sissiror tail, a 4 line wrasse, 2 yellow tail damsels, a blue velvet- adult, 2 cardinals, and a huge carpet anemone w/a large clarkee, a large bta, and a small bta, 4 cleaner shrimp, 4 various shrimps, and various lps, softie, sps coral- and a large CUC, been this way for years- never a problem.

I have a 165 gallon show tank w/ 250lbs of live rock- the rock is the key.

Shape of the fish is very important concerning tangs. They identify more with like shape then like size or anything else- your blue jaws will be fine.

the large hippo, and the red soldier, and the adult BV run the show- they take turns- seriously- but the blue hippo- he is king.

You have a much larger tank than the OP, almost a 100 gals bigger. The size of your tank has a lot to do with it in this case. All of those fish in a 75 is at some point is going to be bad.

Its kind of irrelivent now but here's a tip for future additions.I have a section of my tank im able to section off by sticking eggcrate in it.I shoo(sp lol) the fish out of this section put the divider in and add the new fish into the partitioned section. I leave it this way for afew weeks then remove the divider:)...works like a charm.

This is a multi purpose technique,it allows the new fish to completely aclimate to the water, allows it to. Do so with minimal stress.it allows the new fish to establish a territory (wich will change with the next addition) aswell as" shake" things up with current inhabitants.

This may not work in all casses considering some tanks dimensions and current/new inhabitants

Should work fine once the acclimation is done... I only foreshadowed issues with the acclimation process. Be sure and post some pics..

I realize this- as I hoped the OP would compare the tank sizes and get a general aspect ratio to fish keeping ability. Did you not realize this? 2 tangs in a 75 gallon is no where near what a 75 gallon is able to keep, with good rock scaping and good filtration- you know this.

Obviously I realized. Maybe instead of listing your live stock and saying that rock placement Is key (Which I agree.) you should discourage the OP on adding more fish.

I disagree, with proper rock placement a 75 gallon can handle a pair of small blue jaws, and a pair of tangs easily.
