That is correct,it is just a general guidline as most would go to home depot, lowes, etc. for there reef plumbing project supplies. Therefore the standard sch 40 color for pvc is white.Allthough there is pvc/poly/pex tubing which comes in blue, red, orange, clear, grey, mabey even more colors than that with most having a dedicated use, and it's considerably more expensive .But thank you for going out of your way to point that out!:p

Wow! Really? If you post incorrect information, I'm not suppose to try and help clear it up? There are many many people who buy things online. There are many many people who buy from local stores other than HD and Lowe's. Generally I look the other way when people make grumpy posts, but I won't apologize for sharing correct information and pointing out misleading information that may affect someones decisions.

My post in response to your information wasn't rude or condescending.

I wasn't meaning to sound rude, nor do i think i gave incorrect info.I've been an HVAC/Plumbing contractor for 23 years, and i have NEVER walked into a wholesale parts warehouse,a lowes or hd,or any small town hardware store and asked for a 10' stick of 3/4 sch 40 pvc and been asked what color would i like?Yes they can inject any color they want to,i am simply stating regular standard household water use sch 40 pvc is white.Specialized or custom can be anything from hot pink to neon green,so what?I don't see the argument here. And if you feel i offended you,i apollogise.

It was your last sentence, not your clarification, I took exception to.

I just wanted to clarify the information so that someone wouldn't avoid buying something that was black because they thought PVC only came in white. I have 2 local shops that sell black PVC and several of the fish stores do as well.

as a plumber i have taken many safety classes on this both abs and pvc both are highly toxic in liquid or chemical state ,after product is in its cured it bleeds trace amounts ! the only real difference is abs has a much lower pressure rating then pvc, 0n a side note pvc is illegal to use in many countries on potable water ! ive found that fact to be a little unresting seeing how much my company installs !!

My house used CPVC but not PVC for water lines.
