    Hey people,

As some of you know i have a 20 gallon reef that i just started thursday. Since it such a small tank with such a low capacity of water, i know that i dont need to be dosing supplements/additives to the tank if i just do 10% waterchanges every week. Do i need to make 10% waterchanges every week when my tank is cycling? I got a little worried cause people say that live rock constantly take the calcium and alkalinity out of the water to be healthy, and i dont know if i also have to do a waterchange just when my tank is cycling? I REALLY NEED HELP!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Do not do water changes during the initially cycle unless the cycle stalls or you have added live stock too early.

No need to worry about the big 3 (Ca/alk/mg) for quite a while.

agreed, when you change the water too early you are diluting the amount of either ammonia or nitrites in your tank and therefore either giving yourself a false reading or slowing down your cycle a bit

no need for water changes during cycle. cal alk and mag will not come into play till ur tank is stable enough to support corals which i recommend atleast 6-8 months after cycle if not 1 yr.
