So I made my first attempt at home made fried chicken tonight and it didn't come out at all like fried chicken. I somehow managed to make caramalized chicken, which turns out is very tasty. I pulled my fryer out, got the oil hot, covered the chicken in flour and seasoning, put it in the fryer, and out came caramalized chicken. I tried just plain covering it in flour, i tried shaking it in a bag with flour, and i tried dipping the chicken in an egg/milk mixture and then covering it in flour. All had the exact same outcome. Anyone here a pro at making fried chicken and can give me some advice. But in the meantime, caramelized chicken is very good.

Sorry to hear that it didn't come out as planned, glad to hear it still tastes good.

If it got caramelized, I'm fairly sure it got too hot. Try lowering the temp of the oil. It should be under 320 degrees F

I love fried chicken and make it all the time.. My trick is to soak it in half-and-half for a few hours before and then triple batter it in flour with all the spices I want in the flour. Also you need to cook it twice to get it really good.. 1st time cook at 300 for about 10-12 minutes to cook the chicken through, then another time at 375 for 5 minutes. It will make it super crispy and delicious.. also dont forget to enjoy with your favorite beer..

I'll give that a try but unfortunately I'm not a beer drinker or any alcohol for that matter.

    MMMMMMM FRIED CHICKEN

Even though I ate so much today I'll have a ham-over tomorrow now I'm hungry again. LOL
Sorry it didn't work out for you but I bet it was still tasty considering anything deep fried usually is!

I'm not a fan of chicken, but anything fried (in veggie oil) and anything caramelized sounds goooood to me! :)

I'm going to have to go with lemonade there, cold milk and fried chicken don't really go together IMO.
