Once I get rid of my longnose hawk, whenever that will be, I havent fed the tank in almost a month now. Hes my only fish, and he ate all my shrimp so how he is still living i dont know but anyways....
So once he is gone I want to start stocking my tank up again.
I'm looking to get a group of schooling fish. Is this possible in a 75? If so, what fish should I look into, and I possibly want smaller fish so I will be able to get a tang or something along with it.

If I do get a group of schooling fish, will they actually school.
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks guys

I had good luck with green chromis but IMO you need at least 6 to get them to school. I have 10 in a 75 and they swim back and fourth all day long. Just one question if I am reading right in regards to your long nose, are you not feeding it for a reason? If you don't want it any more just give it back to your LFS - don't kill it by starving it!!

This has been ongoing for about a month, I have tried just about everything to catch the darn thing besides a hook. He's smart and fast. My hopes is too catch him while he is weak and take him back to the LFS. Apparently he isnt starving he must be munching on something in there because he is still swimming around like crazy.

With your chromis do you have any other fish in the tank

Just suck it up and take out your rocks to get the fish out. Don't starve it or weaken it. That's irresponsible fish keeping.

I have 2 pearly jawfish, flame hawk, green spotted puffer, clown and a flasher wrasse - they all get along very well too.

On the other note, get a trap for the hawk. I tried the same thing with fish in the past and never worked out the way I wanted. Traps are pretty cheap and you can catch the little guy without dismantling the tank.

Like I said, apparently he is eating something else in my tank, and believe me I understand its irresponsible reefing, but what about people killing crabs and what not. And I have my tank setup perfect right now, and honestly I dont know how I would do it without disrupting my corals, I have a leather that is attached to 4 different rocks. believe me I would love to take my rocks out and just catch the fish.

Anyone have anymore advice about schooling fish. I'm really interested in that right now.

I have tried traps and that is one smart fish. I caught the foxface I used to have within all of two minutes and then i usually end up with my whole population of snails and hermits in there too.
Im thinking about the hook trick, someone on here told me to try a barbless hook to catch him. I just dont understand how I would get him off of it without hurting him

A good #for your tank would be 5 green chromis...... Coral cats also school but, get big(and sting). Catch that hawk with a barbless hook.;)

How do you get him off the hook. Im pretty sure he would go for it as soon as I put in, but what bait would i use. I really dont want to kill the thing and would like to get him back to the LFS so he could get into a tank that better suits him

Just use a very small barbless hook with a small piece of shrimp. You and/or significant other don't have any fishing experience?
