I came home from work about 5 today, and deforsted some mysis shrimpies for the fishes. They all know when I go in with a turkey baster, that its feeding time!!!
I hvae 2 Golden headed sleeper gobies, mated pair, and they were now even feeding from the baster! I left at 6 to go to my brother's house for "leftover Easter dinner". I came back at 7:30 and one of the gobies is on the floor! He must have jumped out right after I left. I even have half the glass lid with egg crate on the back half (under the light). Must have been a perfect jump. It was so sad to see him curled up and dead with his mouth open.:cry:
They are all of our favorite fish. My little niece even says "I love the fish that and poop snow!" -haha. I haven't told them yet and really don't know how. The female is left and keeps circling the tank looking for the male i guess. Its sad.
Anyone know if I could just throw another male in there without them fighting? or might pair up? Or do I have to just get another mated pair?

A sad day in my house tonight..:bawling::bawling:

Here is their pic. They were so cool together. I just needed to vent somewhere right now.

NO WAY!!! sorry for your loss.

I had something very similar happen with my bicolor blenny. it was about 3am and I woke up and decided to go look at my tank (for no reason) and when i went out he was on the floor wriggling around, i was a little lucky.

but once again man I have no idea about onther male being thrown in. I just wanted to send my deepest condolences!!!

Thanks so much. I knew if anyone could understand, it all here on 3reef. Maybe my tank has bad goby karma? I had a yellow watchman that lasted all of 3 days before he "gobysided" himself, but he was much smaller.

I feel your pain. I just added a diamond goby on Saturday, woke up this morning and he was laying on the floor dry as a bone. They are a beautiful fish, I will have to try again with some more safeguards.

OUCH--That hurts, I have read this more than once. My Gobie is the family favorite I would be really hurt if anything happened to him-Kinda built my tank around him. VERY VERY sorry for your loss man.

I read on here somewhere about using Tulle on the eggcrate stuff to prevent this from happening. But not really sure if it reduces the light going into the tank. Has anyone tried it? I REALLY love gobies, but can't have this happen again.
