Im now a sophomore in high school and in 2 years i will have to take my tank down and sell it because i cant take it to college. I started stocking my tank with coral (only a couple) and in my area, cleveland, i just dont see the deals all of you get. frags here for sps go for 40 bucks for a tiny frag, thats the cheapest. and the nearest lfs is 50 minutes away from me and for me not able to drive yet, im 15, its so difficult to keep up with this hobby. sadly i have to take down my cadlight tank and cut the hobby :wreck: :bigcry: :furious3: :wreck: :bigcry: :furious3: :wreck: :bigcry: :furious3: :wreck: :bigcry: :furious3: :wreck: :bigcry: :furious3: it was a really hard decision to make and there will always be a missing spot in my room where my tank was :( but its just too expensive and i cant do it.

so the help part, how much do you think my tank can sell for? if you read my signature you will see all the equipment and what a generally nice take it is.

I have 2 options on how to sell it. 1 should i sell equipment separately 2 if i dont, ill take it to my lfs and he sells tanks, but i would have to give him an estimate on what i want for it. any ideas you can give me?

its really sad to do this because i feel i will steer away from 3reef and that is the last thing i want. i will still try to log in every now and then and see how all of your wonderful tanks are doing. hopefully when i get out of college or a little later im going to build another reef and post IT on 3reef and i would look back and see all my old threads. well 3reef, it was so great having all your help along the way and im sure later in life it will all come in handy. i will miss you and the reef addiction! thanks again, hopefully youll all remember me :p

how much did all cost you?
I'm not sure really.. For a 22g.. more that 500 would be to much.. IMO.
Hopefully someone has a better approach.

Hm I guess I skiped some of the equipment..
Well usually when people sell used stuff the sell if for half the price.. So maybe take half of each and add it up?
Or put the price you want to sell each individually and add it up?

sadly used is never close to new, even if its only a month or 2 old people don't wanna pay retail for it.

have you considered hanging on to it and converting to fresh water for a bit, it is small enough to be allowed in most college dorm rooms.

I'm taking a relatively large hit selling my stuff. You won't get but probably half of what you paid.

Why don't you just keep it up and running for 2 years before you go to college? Then keep the equipment and set it up later? Folks at my college were allowed to have fish tanks as well. May want to confirm with the college you decide on. Just keep softies and fish only so you don't have to buy so much. I assume your parents pay electricity. If you just keep softies and fish you will really have very little expense.

exactly im the same age as you and stuff is expensive but look how much you already spent and you wont get even half that(now thats whats depressing). Why not break it down in 2 years well actually 3 since school just started thats what im gonna do or get an apartment and bring it with me or get a nano.

Yeah I will be going to college in 2 years, but am actually doing the work to upgrade my FOWLR to a reef . lol. In 2 years I will most likely break the tank down to keep it in storage &/pr sell it then. I upgrade to a large tank later on, after college.

In two years I hope to see myself going to college in Australia. So who know what exactly will happen to my tank.
